Prepper Plans Will Fail - 4 Reasons Why
4 Reasons Prepper Plans Will Fail
While we can and should do everything in our power to be as reasonably prepared as possible for whatever challenges could come our way, there are 4 things that can ruin it all. Stick around to the end, and I am going to share with you how we can mitigate all these risks with a simple change in the way we think...
1. Narrow Planning
As I have mentioned many times before on my channel, preppers seem to tend to want to plan only for their fantasy scenario. This leaves so many possibilities unaccounted for. Imagine planning for years for, lets say, a foreign invasion and only storing up ammo and training to fight. But then what happens is an economic crash that doesn’t turn violent at all. This narrow mindest in your preparedness efforts could lead you into some problems. It is important to be flexible and able to adapt and overcome in a variety of different situations.
2. Overestimating Ones Abilities
We see this one all the time in the comments section. Preppers beating their chests and leaving bravado filled comments on how badass they are. While you may be really good at some things, it is guaranteed that there is an area that you are lacking in, and that weakness will be exploited by the situation or people that mean you harm. Also, you can always be better. We should never assume that we have it all figured out, with nothing left to learn. This over confidence WILL lead to complacency and simply stop you from learning new things or improving on the skills you do have.
3. Underestimating The Enemy
This is a big one. Along with the overestimation of ones own skills, consequently comes the underestimation of the enemies abilities. That enemy could be people or just the situation itself. If the enemy is a group of people….assume they are training harder than you. We have seen this mistake made in combat, and it has catastrophic consequences. Even with the situation itself….if you imagine the situation just is what you see, and you don’t take into account the after-effects…..the problems are going to sneak up on you and take you out.
4. A Series Of Unfortunate Events
While we can do the best we can to prepare for all the situations we can think of, something can still go wrong. Your house could catch on fire and burn up all your supplies and gear. You could suddenly become sick with an unknown illness that you couldn’t have prepared for. Bad people could breach your defenses and kill you or take your supplies. There an unlimited amount of possible unforeseen problems.
So being that all these issues and unforseen problems could destroy us, what do we do? Well, I think the way to mitigate some of these risks if to plan broadly, always be willing to learn, remain humble and consistent in your efforts, and most of all live a life of self reliance. Simply having a self sufficient mindest in your everyday life will consequently solve a lot of problems. Be prepared to live with as little as possible, as our forefathers did. Humans have lived through horrible circumstances by being able to adapt to the ever changing world around them. Rather than trying to figure out how to obtain this or that, maybe think about how you could simply live without it, or have a more sustainable alternative. We have become so spoiled and out of touch with actually having to “Live Intentionally” as Henry David Thorough put it in his book Walden.
Learn how to actually live, rather than just survive.
While we can prepare as much as possible, we are not invincible. One day we will all die, so do not cling to life too hard.
As always, stay self reliant.
